Dementium II's First Review

Official Nintendo Magazine's Simon Bramble reviews Dementium II, and he likes it... a lot!

"A sequel that trumps a very respectable first game."

"It's hard to fathom just how Renegade Kid have squeezed it all in."

"The impressively rank enemies that ram the claustrophobia home are the best we've seen on the DS since, oh... Dementium."

  1. I'm currently playing Bionicle Heroes, which is an impressive game in itself, but I think I'll give Dementium another play through as soon as I finish Bionicle Heroes up in preperation for Dementium 2.

I'm curious to know why they say the control system is "fiddly." Is there more to this, like an article or something? The controls for both Dementium the Ward and Moon were smooth, tight and fluid. Other than adding the ability to kneel and jump, which I don't see how that could mess up the controls, you guys didnt' change anything else, did you?

  2. Also, I plan to make a walk through for Dementium 2 as well. Has Bradygames contacted you guys about publishing a walk through? or would they deal with South Peak for that? I'm going to make one whether some professional company does or not, I was just curious. I would think that they would have an interest due to the success and general high opinion of the first game.

  5. I am very surprised that they listed "fiddly controls". The mention of it in the review says:

"The only downside is the control scheme, which can be a little fiddly at times (trying to restore health in the middle of a boss battle was very testing, for example), but forgivable considering the scale of the game playing out on the other side of the screen."

To restore your health, you simply tough-drag-release on the item you want to use, just like how the weapon-select works in Moon. When you touch the equipment icon on the touch screen the gameplay pauses, so you can take as long as you like to choose an item. I personally do not find it fiddly. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own thoughts.

    I'm very happy with 84%! :)

  8. Oh and...
Will you be able to jump by touching the button AND press the up button twice, or only by touching the button on the touchscreen?
I'd appreciate it if it would work on both ways, but whats done is done.
