Two New Projects and Dementium II Release

  1. Really does stink they pulled a fast one on the DII release. Although it's not coming out the same day/timeframe as MH3 and FF13, so it might be better. Obviously I don't know what overlap there is but I don't think anything important is coming out on the 4th...

Anyways good luck with all your work, really interested in seeing what you guys can do with other genres (as much as I want Dementium 3DS :P) As long as it isn't a puzzler I should be excited to see.

  2. I'm very excited about the drop of DII (again), and I hope I am not disappointed (again)! :) We all know it isn't *your* fault for the delay, but it still sucks on ice. Good luck on your future endeavors!

  3. Jools, if you don't mind sharing, roughly how much does it cost to fund a game? If it isn't too outrageous, maybe you could set up a pay pal account so that fans can donate and then not only would you have the cash to do what you need, but you'd have the creative freedom to do it.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Dementium, but the thought of Moon 2 makes me excited

  4. That's a very kind gesture, Shawn. But, the cost of development may be too high for that approach to work effectively. Well, unless we have hundreds of thousands of people donating. :) And then, I'm not sure about the legal ramifications. Anyway, the development of a DS game can cost anywhere from the hundreds of thousands to the millions. It comes down to the number of people working on a game, and for how long. It is surprising how quickly you can spend tens of thousands a month even on a small team.

  5. I see. And judging by the hits on your YouTube videos, we wouldn't reach a high enough amount unless there were some very generous givers.

    That sucks.

  6. thanks for the update, it sucks that it is delayed again... but it will most likely be worth it.

can't wait to see how well you guys do on other genres. and I hope you guys will put out sequels of Dementium and Moon as well, and maybe some maximillian :)

    keep up the good work!

  7. Hey Jools, I see myself going more and more down a game designers/developers path professionally, including creating my own basic 3d FPS and strategy games. I work in a development team of 4 and was wondering if you had any advice to give to me on walls per say you encountered going down this professional path.

You go on to talk about dry periods in your blog, what’s the longest one you’ve had and how do you survive of no income for months at a time? Also you mentioned about having close deals where they were just about to go into contract, what kind of things would’ve stop you from the deal and wasn’t there anything you could do to change the deal in the contract for the game to go ahead. Just really interested because none of my games have gone ahead to contract deals yet and would like to be prepared if the offer ever arose.
